Phil and Chuck the Groundhogs
A small tradition that was started in 1886 soon blossomed into a legend. Punxsutawney Phil is a ground hog that is supposedly over 140 years old. He is kept alive with a secret elixir that grants “immortality.” Phil is known for his famous act, predicting the weather. Now his predictions aren’t true at all, in fact scientists found out his accuracy up to 40%-50% correct. That’s the same as flipping a coin! There were a couple of times where his predictions were true and all o

America Has (Always) Had a Problem
With the current political and social climate of the world right now, some could argue that the United States has lost its title of being ‘the greatest country in the world’ and could be considered the black sheep of countries in the world right now. Across the nation right now, families are being torn apart, innocent civilians are being murdered in broad daylight and detained by I.C.E; many have even been comparing the U.S to Nazi Germany. However, according to James Whitman

ICE vs. Minnesota Court
It is with no surprise that ICE has been facing severe backlash from many and it has now made its way onto court. Although this has happened in the past, they now seem to be in quite a rough spot, getting called out by a Minnesota judge for violating nearly 100 court orders. Honestly, it’s hard to see ICE maneuvering their way out of this one, with the amount of footage where they’ve recorded using immense amounts of force during arrests, even while the one in custody is alr

Billie Eilish Speech at the Grammys
The speech Billie Eilish gave at the Grammy’s was a very important and powerful speech. Before I get into that, I wanted to congratulate Billie Eilish for winning her Grammy for song of the year Wildflower. Back to her speech, it was very important to speak up about the ICE situation in our political climate. Billie Eilish quoted, “No one is stolen on legal land.” I felt like there wasn't any better way to say it. If we are being completely honest here, we are all immigrants

The Decline in Democracy
Ever since Trump was elected for president quite some time ago, it is safe to say that there’s been a notable decline in democracy. It depends on one's viewpoints on his presidency, with some believing he acts as a dictator and others refusing to buy into that. Though, it can be argued that it’s been a nationwide thing in the US, given the charts in The world has recently become less democratic - Our World in Data , as well as Trump’s previous attacks towards democracy, espec

Seniors: Here’s What to Look Forward To!
As we all know, we are halfway through the school year, and we, the Senior Class of 2026, have a lot of things ahead to look forward to. But first, we must not get Senioritis! I get it, you may be so over school, and it's like, “we are already near the end, so why keep showing up?” Well, it is important that we finish strong, completely commit to these last months, and fully lock in. One event I know a lot of Seniors have been anticipating is definitely Prom! I am very excit

The Struggle in Iran
Since December 28th 2025, the protests in Iran have been an ongoing thing, resulting in the deaths of approximately over 12,000 people , along with a brutal crackdown, with authorities firing at unarmed protesters . All of these people wanted to protest against inflation and unemployment, rightfully so, as it has been an issue since after the 1979 revolution. However, their leader seems to be taking action in the worst ways possible, saying rioters 'must be put in their place

The Loss of Renee Nicole Good
Renne Nicole Good was fatally shot on January 7, 2026 by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. She lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the situation and took the community by shock and outrage. Good was only 37-years-old and had been a U.S. citizen for her whole life. She is a mother of three children which were all fairly young with the youngest being six and the oldest fifteen. Before the incident, ICE had enforced a lot of operations in Minnesota with tho

NFL Playoffs Predictions
On Sunday, January 4th, the NFL regular season finally concluded after 18 weeks that felt like 18 days. While NFL fans were either upset that their teams missed the playoffs or ecstatic and rooting for their teams in the playoffs. I’m here to try and predict the outcome of these NFL Playoffs. After a very unexpected season that almost felt like a rewind in time ten years, the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos sit atop of the AFC while the Seattle Seahawks and Chica

Wyoming Fights For Abortion Rights
As of recently, the fight for abortion-rights goes on in many states, such as Wyoming and Missouri’s abortion legalities being thwarted and tried, in order to ban a part of women’s healthcare. Thankfully though, Wyoming has refused to give in to bringing back the pill ban, much to others ( MSN ) . However, the same unfortunately can’t be said for Missouri, with an upcoming two week trial that will last January 12th to January 26th. Despite the voters approving the third amend
