The speech Billie Eilish gave at the Grammy’s was a very important and powerful speech. Before I get into that, I wanted to congratulate Billie Eilish for winning her Grammy for song of the year Wildflower. Back to her speech, it was very important to speak up about the ICE situation in our political climate. Billie Eilish quoted, “No one is stolen on legal land.” I felt like there wasn't any better way to say it.
If we are being completely honest here, we are all immigrants if you think about it. Because we stole these lands from the Native Americans, we all really don’t belong on these lands. A lot of families are being split away from homes and taken away for just simply living their life. I would say there is no way to really talk about this because what this country is doing is wrong and cruel. I feel that we need to pray for the families that are being affected by this and pray and hope that this ends.
We need to use our voices to the fullest and not be quiet. We have the right to speak out against what we think is wrong. We need to keep using words and actions to make a difference and make the change that we so desperately need and deserve. I will say that everyone in this world is human and every voice and every race matters. We shouldn't be forcing people to be punished for wanting a better life and wanting better for them and their families.
But even with Billie Elish supporting the ICE OUT movement a lot of other people at the Grammys had a pin that had said ICE OUT. The people that did wear a pen that said ICE OUT was Finneas, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Kehlani, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Olivia Rodrigo, Bon Iver, Margo Price, Samara Joy, Helen J. Shen , Jordan Tyson , Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Rhiannon Giddens, PinkPantheress, and Bad Bunny.
