The Quill is a magazine made by Mayfair High School’s creative writing class. The magazine includes a variety of pages full of poems from students of the creative writing class, either worked on together or by themselves, and also includes Mayfair Writing Center contest winners’ Valentine’s Day and Halloween poems. The fourth annual Congressional Art Competition is a contest hosted by one of our United States House of Representatives, Robert Garcia. The competition was open to high school students who demonstrate artistic talent. Additionally, it was revealed that the winning artist will have the opportunity to have their piece displayed in the U.S. Capitol. Mayfair High School had its senior and junior Prom night at 21 South Fullerton Airport. The upperclassmen’s big event went on from 7 to 11pm. The class is a year-long course used to help students mainly with their presentation skills. The basketball game is an annually played sports event made in honor of Hiram “Chick” Peterson, who was one of Mayfair’s assistant principals who sadly passed away back in 2002. The student team is made up of two players from each sport, and the faculty members volunteer for their spot.
