I took the chance to shine a light on Mrs. Aguirre because she is extremely kind-hearted and helped me grow as a person. Not only is she caring, she is also an excellent teacher. I wanted to take the opportunity to learn more about her experiences working here at Mayfair and about her life outside of work.

Q: What made you want to become a teacher?

A: “My love for history. I feel like the teachers I had were not good, and I want to do something better to inspire my students.”

Q: Why did you choose to work at Mayfair?

A: “Two of my friends Aaron Brown, and Maroquine, talked so highly about Mayfair. I noticed that an opening came up, so I took the opportunity and applied.”

Q: How has your experience at Mayfair been so far?

A: “It has been a rollercoaster of experiences, but nonetheless, very exciting. The relationships I have made with the staff and students have been great and very heartwarming to have.”

Q: What's your favorite thing about teaching?

A: “When you see the look in a student's eyes that they got something right that they are passionate about. Also just building those close relationships with students, it's so much fun. It's like having a family here.”

Q: What's something you're looking forward to this school year?

A: "I am looking forward to my students really understanding the structure of writing. Where I hope it becomes a natural thing for them, without using a map or an outline to guide them through the work. I want them to understand how it goes and the flow naturally."

Q: What's something interesting about you that not everyone else would know?

A: “I am really good at the game where you have to name a song within two beats.”

Q: If you weren't a teacher, what would you be doing instead?

A: "If I wasn’t a teacher, I would be in the construction or landscaping field. That was another interest of mine.”

Q: What do you do outside of teaching?

A: “Outside of teaching, I'm constantly landscaping in my yard. I have a huge hill that I work on often. My kids are also into soccer, so I am often on the field watching them play their sport.”

Q: What has been your favorite memory of teaching at Mayfair?

A: “I love all of the plays the school hosts. All the plays I'm involved in and the connection I make with students in it.”

Q: What school did you used to work at?

A: “I used to work at St. Pius, the X, in Santa Fe Springs. It's a private k-8 school that most people here haven’t heard of.”

Thank you very much Mrs. Aguirre for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer my questions for you. I really appreciated getting to know about you and your interests more. I hope to hear more from you, and I wish you a good school year!
