The PTSA Brings Furry Friends to Mayfair
On October 8th, during middle and high school lunch at the Wellness Center, some adorable therapy dogs were brought over to allow students to unwind. It was generously sponsored by Mayfair's PTSA in partnership with the Mayfair Wellness Center. Students were advised to come in and take a nice break with the sweet therapy dogs.
Going over to the wellness center, there was a line out the door leading to a room that was filled to the brim with kids eager to go and see the cute and cuddly animals. There were three dogs and two cats for the students to enjoy. While I was walking around and gathering photos in the room, I decided to take a quick interview with some students. First, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kylie Gonzalez.
Q: How do you feel about the event?
A: “I love it so much, I feel like it's a great opportunity for students to calm down from classes if you're stressed. It's also just a nice addition to the day, hanging out with a lot of cuddly critters that are so cute.”
After talking to Kylie, I made my way around and talked with another student, Malaya Trinidad.
Q: How do you feel about this event?
A: “It's very cool and I feel very happy. I feel like my day got better seeing all the cute animals.”
Continuing on with my walk around, I stopped to ask one of the members who helped host the event.
Q: What are your thoughts on this event?
A: “Well our dogs go to many wellness centers, but we love coming here to Mayfair, I think that the students have been very respectful and very kind so we’ve had a good time.”
As I walked around the room I could definitely see the smiles on the faces of my fellow classmates and I do think that the PTSA truly made a lot of people's day. The eager line to meet our furry friends and the joy that filled the room was evident that this was an out of the park event. I could sense how excited students were to be able to come and hangout for a quick moment. Thank you to the Mayfair PTSA and Wellness Center for making this amazing event come to fruition.
