Awards and Events At the VMAs

The VMA’s, (Video music awards), is an annual award show to honor the best music videos in the industry. The VMA’s took place Sunday, September 27, 2026, and the people were moved. Fans are shocked watching British singer-song-writer and record producer, PinkPantheress' reaction to “Pop Queen” winning “Artist of the Year.” Fans online speculated that the two may resent each other, while others laughed it off and clipped PinkPantheres, using her as a meme reaction photo. Both singers received lots of backlash before coming together to shut down the rumors and confirm that there is no bad blood towards one another.
Despite the viral "shady looks" going around the whole night, Pinkpantheress didn't leave empty handed. Zara Larsson and her both won “Best Art Direction” for their collaboration on their viral track “Stateside.” Madonna on the other hand, was surely the star of the night, with 13 nominations and she left the night having won 11 of them; that being the most awards won out of any artist the entire night. Even though Madonna won many awards, Grammy award-winning artist Taylor Swift didn't fall too far behind, as she would be the second-most nominated artist, coming out with 9 nominations.
As the night went on, Grunge band, Nirvana, was praised with the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award,” later coming out as the most emotional segment of the 2026 VMA’s. As the night progressed, two tributes were made, one to the late singer, Dolly Parton, and the other to George Micheal. During Dolly's tribute singer, Kacy Musgraves performed one of her most memorable songs, “I will always love you” to honor and highlight the impact that Dolly Parton has had on Pop culture and the music industry. RAYE, Teddy Swims, SOMBR, and Adam Lambert all banded together to perform George Micheal’s top hits to highlight the 10 year anniversary of his passing. As the night came to an end, other large singers, such as Gunna, Yung Lean, and more went on the stage to perform.
The VMA’s definitely had its moments this year, even coming out with a new pop-culture meme, “shady face,” and the heartwarming tribute to Dolly Parton. I personally enjoyed the VMA’s this year. Moving forward, I am very excited to see what new pop-culture moments and fan reactions the VMA’s will bring next year.
