USC Baseball Explodes with Historic Start

USC baseball had very high expectations after they finished last season with a 37-23 overall record and a conference record on 18-12 with key wins against number #14 UCLA and #22 TCU. Then after making a playoff to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015 they beat TCU in regionals before getting eliminated by Oregon State in the regional final.
Even though they had very promising feats and a solid record, fans didn’t expect for them to do that much better the next year but something insane happened. It all started when USC swept Pepperdine in the opening weekend to start the season 3-0. Then they just kept improving from there when they started beating big schools like Washington and Illinois. Then with a series sweep over Long Beach State, the Trojans improved their record to 19-0 after they beat Northwestern which broke the record for the greatest start to a baseball season in program history.
Unfortunately, the Trojans would not sweep Northwestern and would suffer their first loss after they fell to the Wildcats 2-1. Even though this is disappointing, they didn't let that loss stop them. After they lost, they went on to sweep the Washington Huskies to improve their record to 24-1. They are now nationally ranked #12 under schools like Texas, UCLA, and Oklahoma.
During this incredible stretch of games, USC baseball coach Andy Stankiewicz was quoted. "Stay the course. We got a long (week)," Stankiewicz said. "We're excited and it's a great start, but we just gotta keep in mind that we have a long way to go. It's a good start. It's a good start certainly in conference. Anytime you sweep a team, they've been playing well, Illinois has been playing really good baseball. So to get three, it's a big deal. It's a big moment for us. We'll take it." I fully believe USC can shock the nation with their performance down the road and only time will tell how good this USC team truly is.
