Two years ago, during the Little Shop of Horrors musical, both students and families had to vote for the next musicals for the next three years. In a short video posted by Monsoon Theatre on Instagram on August 24th, 2024, they announced the next 2024-2027 musicals, which turned out to be Mean Girls, Beetlejuice, and The Producers. This year will be Beetlejuice. In case you didn’t know, Beetlejuice is about a teenager named Lydia Deetz who recently lost her mother. She moves into a haunted house full of surprises that Lydia can only see and figure out with Beetlejuice behind her back!

Beetlejuice auditions happened on September 16th through the 18th. Students had to go through specific parts of the audition on each of the days. The first day was singing, the second day was dancing, and the third and final day was acting.

Here’s what the students that are auditioning for the musical thought of:

Q: How do you feel about Beetlejuice?

A: “I’m so excited to be a part of Beetlejuice!” - Julia Nunez Alcatraz (10th)

Q: What are you looking forward to for Beetlejuice?

A: “I’m looking forward to working with my friends along with new people on this musical and making new memories and having fun!” - Juliana Reviczky (9th)

Q: What did you think of the auditions?

A: “I feel like they went okay, but however, it makes me a little sad that we had to push back the cast list to Tuesday, September 22, but I understand because there were 55 people that auditioned.” - Lola Guerrero (11th)

Q: Which role are you hoping to play?

A: “I’m hoping to play any role or maybe just be in the ensemble. It’s just so much fun to be a part of the musical program. So many fun people to meet.” - Imeara Palmer (12th)
