Mayfair Welcomes: Mr. Douglas Moran

Updated: Dec 3

As of October 30th, 2024, Ms. Milot, Mayfair Middle and High School’s former secretary, has left our school. She was responsible for assisting schools, administrations, teachers, and students alike for decades in the Bellflower Unified School District. We thank her for her years of service. In the wake of her leave, a new person has stepped up to the task, and we wish to welcome him to our school with open arms. Hello to Mayfair’s brand new secretary in the front office, Mr. Douglas Moran.

Mr. Moran came to Mayfair’s campus on October 31st, just in time to witness the school’s real Halloween spirit. However, he’s been working with our district for four years behind the scenes. It wasn’t until recently that he learned about Mayfair and claims to be enthusiastic about being here because he has “never worked at a high school/middle school.”

Moran is friendly, easygoing, and open minded. Around the office, he seems to be amicable to his coworkers, both in personal and business discussion. For the first two days of his stay, he is said to be doing well in their work environment, and said to be “a very nice man.” He enjoys going to the gym, playing the guitar and spending time with his family and pets.

His career path has primarily focused on working with kids. With his mother also being in the educational field, it only inspired him to pursue a career in education. While he was at camp, he found that working with the people there was enjoyable, sparking his aspiration to work as a camp counselor for a while. Later on, he found himself working in school as a teacher’s assistant, an instructional leader, an after school superior and now Mayfair’s primary secretary. Though it is a short-term goal for him, it contributes long-term to the school and its supply.

So far, Mr. Moran is really liking it at Mayfair and we hope to keep him feeling welcome. He said, “Whatever impact you leave… make sure that… it’ll affect other people in a positive way.” We should carry on with his words and make sure we leave a positive impact on him as well, for our school and our community.
