On Friday, October 10, 2025, Mayfair Unified Soons had the opportunity to participate in the 3rd annual Unified Flag Football Tournament at Paramount High School, where six high schools across Southern California came together for an exciting day to play flag football.

Before the game started, our Unified Soons got to run through Paramount’s inflatable tunnel with their marching band playing, which was a very exciting game day hype-up to prepare for our students. As we warmed up right before the game, our Unified Soons also got bags with motivational quotes on them filled with snacks and Gatorade to fuel up. There was also another snack booth as well as a medical tent provided by Paramount to accommodate our needs.

For the first game, Mayfair went against Paramount. For the second game, Mayfair went against Locke. Our Soons used their teamwork, leadership, and most importantly inclusion skills together throughout the game with one another.

After that, it was the halftime show for cheer routines. Mayfair Unified Cheer performed their cheer routine featuring the song “Dance The Night by Dua Lipa” along with a cheer stunt at the end featuring Grace McCafferty, 7th grade, as the flyer. It was such a stunning and fantastic routine by our Soons, along with other Unified Cheer groups as well that had cute choreography and outstanding mashups as a part of their routine.

Then, it was the mascot races. Our two mascots came along to cheer for the Unified Soons with Cheer on the sidelines. Our mascots went up against Paramount’s mascots and the Chick-fil-A mascot. One of our mascots ended up winning the mascot race, which was very fun and exciting for our students to watch.

Unfortunately, we could not stay longer due to the End of the 1st Quarter Minimum Day, so Unified Soons were rewarded with Chick-fil-A on the way home.

Thank you, Paramount High School, for inviting our Unified Sons for a wonderful opportunity to play flag football and to promote the power of teamwork, leadership, inclusion, and school spirit within our general education students and students with special needs.
