Turnstile is a hardcore punk/rock band that is signed under Roadrunner Records. With that, Turnstile has been nominated for nine Grammys across their career. They won their first two Grammys with their wins for “Best Rock Album” and “Best Metal Performance”. Now with these wins there has been a public outroar online with the metal community.

This started because Turnstile is mainly punk and rock, but they won best metal album. This gets even more outrageous when they won over actual metal bands like Sleeptoken, Dream Theater, Ghost, and Spiritbox. Many people on Instagram are quoted saying “Literally no one considers Turnstile metal lol” and “Why was Turnstile even nominated? They’re a punk band not a metal band.” Despite these very colorful comments about the results of the Grammys, Turnstile is far from a talentless band with three different songs getting on the top end of various different charts. For example, their song “Never Enough” was number 1 on the "Alternative Airplay” charts. Additionally, their album also named “Never Enough” was the number 1 rock album on the “Top Hard Rock Albums” charts in June of 2025.

Overall, Turnstile is a very deserving and talented band, but when it comes to the Grammys, they need to have better classification. Organizers seem to miss almost every time because Turnstile was deserving of the rock awards, but the band simply is not a rock. Even if they were, there were more deserving performances that should have been the one to receive that Grammy instead. I get it that people are mad over the results, but people saying that they aren't deserving just isn't fair. Congrats Turnstile on an incredible year in music!
