The Top Halloween Costumes of 2026
As the month of October closes in on us, Halloween Day comes closer. A question I have every Halloween is, “What are the most popular costumes this season?” With new trends and more pop culture icons coming into the media, we can see a rise in very interesting costumes for the year. Films such as Obsession, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Buddy, The Odyssey, and many others have become big in the media. Taking a look at social media, we can see the rise of the hottest costumes this year.
As I looked around the internet, I hopped around and landed on Pinterest, which had a board dedicated to top costumes. Some general costumes I noticed were different animals. I had also noticed that at school, the top animal was a deer. A cute makeup style paired with different varieties of brown outfits. Another common animal I saw was black cats. Many people tend to throw that on as a last-minute costume. Some black cat ears, a drawn-on nose with whiskers, and some black clothes do the perfect job. A slightly rarer animal I noticed making the rounds was a unicorn. A pastel wig, a very colorful rainbow outfit, paired along with a horn, ears, and some fun makeup.
On the more pop culture side of things, Nikki from the movie Obsession was a very prominent costume. Red tiger print, black shorts, and black boots were used in many costumes to create her iconic outfit. Every year, Coraline also tends to make it to the top of people's lists; with her iconic blue hair and yellow raincoat, you get an easy costume. By far the most popular couple's costume was definitely Max and Roxanne from A Goofy Movie. I noticed lots of people went as Max just by himself for a costume; a basic red t-shirt, black nose, some hat, and ears created the complete costume.
At our school, there was a very big variety of costumes to look at. The top Halloween costumes of this year were way better compared to the costumes of last year. I definitely could see the creativity coming in this year. Hopefully, next year we can see even more amazing costumes.
