For as long as we can remember, there has always been circulating rumors of a TikTok ban throughout all of its life span. During the recent months, it has become much more of a serious problem.
People get stressed by this and panic so much to the point that there was even a time where countless individuals were downloading RedNote. It’s an app that’s basically the same thing as TikTok but everything is in Chinese. People just learned to use it and used it just like they would use TikTok. But even after TikTok went dark for 12 hours on January 19, 2025, everyone scrambled back onto TikTok saying how terrible those couple of hours were.
After that, Trump was issued back into office and he pushed back the ban. He discussed how he would talk to the owner of the Chinese company ByteDance and he would also find an U.S. user to become the new owner of the app. The app’s existence became more of an issue due to the worry of American users' privacy along with security concerns. Then there were more rumors of who would become that lucky person or company like Mr. Beast, Oracle, Amazon, and countless others.
Currently, the ban was extended even longer by 120 days and a U.S. official has said that Oracle and Silver Lake could most likely take the app. Users have been thrilled about this sudden news, not being all too concerned that much for the app’s longer lasting stay. But there is still a wait for more news to come on whether or not the app will remain or go. Along with the 120 day extension to give us extra time to possibly save the app.
