On Wednesday, October 29th, a handful of students had the lovely opportunity to attend the Team World Vision Assembly that took place in the steam building on campus. Alongside Mrs. Vanderbaan and Mr. Vanderbaan, the assembly had been organized and executed carefully by a group of students. Starting the assembly off with a raffle, students were given a ticket at the door with a random number on each. One of the students, who are part of the group, chose a number out of a pile of papers and read outloud the winner to which then the winner was able to take a piece of Team World Vision merch from a merch table set up on the front. After that fun portion to start off with, Mrs. Vanderbaaan then presented a few videos that spoke and gave a little insight on just how much the organization and fundraiser helps people around the world. At one point she had shown us a picture of a bucket of water that the people in a certain area were forced to use as drinking water and honestly told us that she wouldn't even feel comfortable washing her car with that water let alone drinking it. Her point came across well and loudly expressed how important it is that we understand how much participating in this fundraiser will mean to the people who just simply need clean water. The students volunteering in this program kindly shared their experiences of working with Team World Vision and how they came to join the organization. They each briefly spoke within the portions of the assembly and brought forth different ideas and stories of how they started and the absence of regret they felt once seeing the impact they could make on people who needed the help. This assembly was an overall success on how Team World Vision expressed their passion and drive to make a difference in the world.
