Senior Sunrise of 2025

As another school year begins, so does the final journey for the class of 2025. To symbolize the start of the last year for Seniors at Mayfair High School, a sentimental event dubbed as “Senior Sunrise.” The purpose of the event was to cherish all the memories made throughout high school and watch the beautiful sunrise to symbolize the beginning of the end of high school. The Senior Sunrise for the class of 2025 was scheduled for August 29, 2024 from 6:00-7:00 a.m. Most students were reported to arrive between 5:45-6:00 a.m. and hung out mainly behind the gym. The event mainly consisted of some jolly music, places to take photos, and plenty of towels and chairs. Some people made some positive remarks such as Asia Lee stating, “This is great, this is wonderful. I’m so happy to be here,” or Milne Bradford stating, “I had so much fun for six years I was here, and I’ll miss it when I graduate.” Even the host of the event, Amanda McAndrew, was really positive about the whole experience by sharing, “I think the Senior Sunrise is a great opportunity for seniors to kick off their year and will symbolize all the great things that’ll happen this year.” Furthermore, many people still found it enjoyable with their usual antics. Some of those honorable quotes that I got were:

“I got motion, twin”- Daniel Torrez,

“Sometimes you gotta slay a couple of dragons before you get to the princess,”- Leo Guerrero and Edgar Mora

“Don’t talk to the band kids, quoted the band kids,” -Vivian Ruvalcaba,

“Put it all on red,”- Caleb Scofield.

Most people were seen hanging out, drinking coffee, and chatting about the school year and the future ahead. However, the “sunrise” was foreshadowed by the weather as the sky was covered in an overcast. Along with that, the air was cooler than what it has been on previous days; making people who didn’t bring comfy clothes experience slight discomfort. Many stated their frustration like William Bayan saying, “Senior Sunrise sucked a lot, there was no sun. It was fun though,” and another quote from one of our other journalists, Ary Lopez, observing that “Due to unfortunate events, the sun ain’t coming up.” Overall, the event was pretty good despite its shortcomings that happened unexpectedly. Thus, this marks the last year of the class of 2025 at Mayfair High School.
