Roblox, one of the most popular gaming platforms for children, is facing loads of criticism and lawsuits after threatening a lawsuit against YouTuber Schlep, who is known for catching Roblox predators and getting them arrested. On August 9, 2025, Schlep posted a YouTube Video, “Roblox is Threatening to Sue Me For Protecting Kids.” Roblox sent a cease and desist letter to Schlep. To summarize, Roblox stated that Schlep broke the rules by engaging in simulated child endangerment conversations, sharing or soliciting personally identifiable information, and directing users to move conversations off platform.

After the video was posted, Schlep’s video started to go viral. Many influencers criticized Roblox’s Safety Policies for Children and began to side with Schlep, using the hashtag #freeschlep on X, which became trending. Due to the mass traction, a Louisiana attorney general filed a lawsuit against Roblox, claiming they failed to input safety measures. This came with many unhappy families suing Roblox for the child exploitation exhibited on the site.

Roblox responded on their website with numerous articles on “How Roblox Partners With Law Enforcement”, “More on our Removal of Vigilantes from Roblox” and “Roblox Responds to Louisiana AG Lawsuit”. Notably, they also uploaded a video on Tech Talks: Update On Our Safety Initiatives summarizing defining vigilante groups, improving safety technology, and their report system, which has been criticized the most.

After Roblox’s articles and video were published, netizens in the Roblox community expressed their grief and disappointed feelings about Roblox’s actions regarding child safety. People online shared their experiences and used the report system on Roblox, which never worked most of the time. Overall, the child safety problem has been ongoing on Roblox for years.
