Reggie the Sea Lion

Across the sea all the way to Hainan Island, China, lives a very lively and adorable sea lion, Reggie. Reggie was born in June 2009 at the Blackpool Zoo in England. Later on, he would be transferred to Knowsley Safari Park, which was also located in England. Ultimately, Reggie landed in his new area soon after. Meantime Communications reported “Kerry Logistics Network Limited (‘Kerry Logistics’; Stock Code 0636.HK) has transported two sealions from the United Kingdom to their new home in Hainan Ocean Paradise theme park, Sanya, Hainan Island, China.” After the long journey, Reggie finally landed in his current home of Hainan R&F Ocean Paradise.

Reggie is a California sea lion, who is very well known for his playful and intelligent nature. Although it may look silly, they are aware that the funny dances they do get them treats as a reward. In some videos, you can see Reggie's trainer giving him a reward for his silly antics. These sea lions are also known for their loud bark, which in the wild is used to communicate and defend territories. The average lifespan for a wild sea lion is around 15 to 30 years, with females usually being the ones who live longer. In human care, such as aquariums or zoos, they can live a bit longer, around 30 years on average.

The Instagram account for Reggie has gained over 709,000 followers, while his TikTok has about 70,000 followers—most people know him for the videos of him hitting different moves. Along with Reggie are his friends, Koby, Morrin, Johnny, Picasso, and their walrus friend Wayne; they are sometimes referred to as Reggie's Crew. In some videos, you can see Reggie and his crew interacting with each other and guests. It's safe to say that Reggie and his crew have captured the hearts of thousands.
