On September 15th, our former president and 2024 presidential candidate, Donald Trump was found safe after another assassination attempt. In the span of two months, Trump was targeted twice. Fortunately, he was not severely injured in either attempt and was able to return to his campaigns soon after.
On July 13th, 2024, Trump was campaigning for the upcoming election year and was shot by the ear by the stage. His secret service agents were able to locate and take down the gunman as soon as the shooting happened. Even though Trump’s wounds were not life-threatening or requiring a long term recovery, it was not the same for some people who attended the campaign. Unfortunately, the shooting left one person dead and two others seriously injured.
This past Sunday, Trump was targeted again but at his golf club in Florida. Luckily, the secret service agents spotted the suspect before he could even make the attempt.
Tons of history is being made with this upcoming election with a convicted felon and a mixed woman running for office. There are multiple racially motivated attacks on both sides that is causing a divide amongst our nation. It is up to the next generation of voters to accept people’s political differences and still have compassion for them. Political violence should never be the answer when trying to settle different viewpoints. It is okay to not support the candidate, but you should always give them respect. Yes, you might have different political beliefs than the opposing candidate, but we shouldn’t try to result in ruthlessness but with understanding or at the very least, respect.
