On November 17, 2025, Mayfair High School was featured on CBS News for a new program called “Class Act.” The first morning segment was scheduled to air live at 7:15 a.m.; many Monsoons woke up early to be at the school by 6:00 a.m. to prepare for the recording. The morning segment featured a variety of groups, including the Mayfair Monsoons Marching Corps, Mariners and Showtime, SkillsUSA, ASB, Link Crew, WEB, Monsoon Theatre, and more.
The first segment included a short interview with Mr. Ramirez, our band director, and two members of the marching band, followed by the marching band performing Mayfair’s Hey Song, with other Mayfair groups cheering in the background, including our mascots. Behind the scenes, multiple shots were taken with different ideas for each because the main goal was to showcase all the school spirit Mayfair has to offer.
The second segment highlighted Mayfair’s E-Sports program, including an interview with the teacher who manages it, two students, and a former alumnus. The final segment focused on sports, featuring many of the athletic programs Mayfair offers, along with a short interview with our superintendent and three athletes. The superintendent discussed Mayfair’s new sports field, which broke ground three weeks prior. After the interviews, the cheerleaders performed tumbling routines while Monsoon athletes cheered in the background.
Being on the news was an exciting and memorable experience for many Monsoons, leaving a lasting impression as a truly unforgettable day.
