Mayfair Welcomes Mrs. Kilby

During the week, I had the opportunity to interview our new secretary, Mrs. Kilby.

She was incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming. Although she hasn't been here for very long, I know she’ll have a large impact on the school, staff, and students.

Q: What made you want to work for Mayfair?

A: “I was interested in moving from a health assistant position to a clerical position. I had an opportunity for an interview and thought it would be a great fit for me since I like Mayfair and the hours.” 

Q: Are there any notable accomplishments you have had here at Mayfair?

A: “I'm still new here so, not many, but I am yet to make some big accomplishments.”

Q: Why did you decide to take this career route and what were you originally planning to do? 

A: “Well, I was working at a bank, I was working for wealth management, but I love kids. I volunteered at schools a lot so I thought working at the health office would be a good way to get involved. The hours are also flexible with my own kids. I'm able to work, but still be there for them.”

Q: What school did you used to work for before you came to Mayfair?

A: “I used to work at an elementary school as a nurse.”

Q: How many responsibilities do you juggle as a secretary?

A: “I deal with any kid that's having trouble showing up to school. It's part of my job to speak to the parents about why they're absent so much and what I could do to help them. It can be a lot of responsibility if you really do care and want to help your students, because showing up to class everyday really does count."

Q: If there is one thing you could change about Mayfair, what would it be?

A: "I'm not quite sure what I would change.”

Q: If you could go back to your first year working, what would you tell yourself?A: “I would tell myself to keep going and to have a little bit of pride in myself.”

Q: What is your role here at Mayfair?

A: “ I'm a clerk, and I am also assisting with attendance.”

Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?

A: "I usually spend most of my time with my kids.”

Q:What is your favorite part of working with kids?

A: “Well, I've always loved working with kids, so I'm not very sure.”
