All About Halloween

Everyone knows why we celebrate Christmas. It's a day to spend time with loved ones and share gifts. But what about Halloween? Halloween originates back to when an ancient group of people called the "Celts" would have a festival called the “Festival of Samhain.” They believed in a boundary between them and the gods, or the living and the dead. They believed that supernatural events would happen and that the boundary between the two worlds would get thinner, allowing spirits to come through. It is also said that the Celts used animal heads and skins to “dress up,” which is why this tradition of costumes on Halloween has been passed down through generations.

Halloween has had many myths behind it, such as black cats being bad luck. The myth originated back when people would assume older women would perform witchcraft and their animals would be demonic; most times, they just had a cat. There's also another conspiracy theory that Satan would turn himself into a cat and socialize with witches. However, this myth has been busted, and people actually say that it's good luck if a black cat crosses paths with you at some point in your life. Another myth is that a man named Jack tricked the Devil, but his trickery caused him to face the punishment of being banned from both Heaven and Hell. He lit a turnip, making this the “Jack-o'-lantern,” and it guided him through the darkness. Some say that lighting Jack-o'-lanterns on Halloween will help guide lost spirits to their homes.

The most popular traditions to follow on Halloween are to go trick-or-treating and dress up in costumes. When trick-or-treating, people must be safe and can go in groups. Not only does this make it safer, but it also makes the experience more fun, especially if you are with friends and family. The tradition of wearing a costume goes back to when the Celts wore animal heads and skins. Now, people usually go as a character or something else, but this allows everyone to express their interests and get as creative as they want. Halloween is a holiday where you can enjoy friends, family, and candy!
