On September 26, 2025, Mayfair High School had a fall sports assembly to recognize and appreciate all of the sports teams our school has. The assembly starts off with all of the different teams running out while the audience cheers for them.
Shortly after all the teams came out, Mrs. McAndrew unexpectedly called out a group of students for their bad behavior during the assembly and the whole crowd cheered her on for this action.
Following that sudden disruption, all the different fall sports teams came out to do their own special dance for everyone. It started off with the girls varsity volleyball team, then the girls golf team, followed by the cross country team, the girls flag football, then the girls tennis team, which was my personal favorite, and ended with our varsity football team.
After all these sports came out and did their dances, our mascots performed their own special dance with each other as well which the audience loved.
Followed by the mascot's dance, our cheer team came out and performed the “Fight Song” cheer which we usually see at every assembly.
After, our first game starts with teachers vs. students playing a unique version of “Connect Four”. After a long and intense game, the teachers end up winning which the audience did not seem to particularly enjoy.
Subsequently, Ms. McAndrew called out the seniors of each sports team to come out and receive a prize for participating in a sport as a senior. This led into the ASB and Link Crew dance which had the crowd cheering for them.
Thereafter, our second game consisted of a special version of musical chairs. The two groups of students had to perform different ways of moving across the stage in order to reach the chairs. Two students ended up winning and receiving a prize for their efforts.
For a short break, we did the Monsoon spell out which resulted in the senior and the sophomore side being the loudest and showing the most school spirit.
After that short break, our final game started with teachers Mr. Yannes and Ms. McAndrew’s teams going against each other in a game of balloon pop. After an intense long game, Mr. Yanes’ team ended up winning and the audience seemed to really enjoy that win.
Lastly, the cheer team performed the “Hey Song” which ended up being our final performance and after that cheer, everyone in the assembly participated and sang our alma mater which concluded our assembly.
I personally enjoyed coming to each of our assemblies. Each assembly is unique in their own ways and I am glad we could recognize and appreciate our fall sports teams for all the work and effort they put into their sport for many years. I am looking forward to more assemblies, so stay tuned to the WindJammer to learn more about future Mayfair events!
