Marvel's Fantastic 4

Marvel celebrated Valentine's Day with the release of the new Fantastic Four cast and release date. In a neutral pastel cartoon/drawing of the characters with the actors' heads, it was definitely subtle, which is not common for Marvel, especially as they could have released the news during the Super Bowl three days prior, as they did with other projects in the past. Regardless of how the news was released, the cast was the main topic of conversation, as Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss Bachrach will play Ben Grimm.

This cast doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Pascal’s casting was leaked a couple of months ago, and they all have been named in many fancasts throughout social media. This trend started after John Krasinski played Reed Richards in Multiverse of Madness, as people wanted to see what other options there would be if Krasinski didn't continue playing Reed Richards. Either way, the cast is very talented, as some of them are Emmy winners and nominees, and all have been part of successful movies or shows. Although being part of a successful show has brought a bit of discussion about a specific actor in the cast.

When the news was released, most people began taking to social media to say Joseph Quinn didn’t have what it takes to play the Human Torch, many basing it simply on his character, Eddie Munson, on the viral series Stranger Things instead of his various other projects and talent. Additionally, Quinn, Pascal was also receiving a bit of hate for not looking enough like the comic book characters. But this really shouldn’t be a problem as Marvel changes things all the time, so much so that even in this movie, it seems that they are taking a different approach to the story of the Fantastic Four. However, regardless of what your opinion is on the casting, everyone will be able to see the actors' performances when it releases on July 25, 2025.
