Dear Editor,

On today's date as of 09/10/2025, conservative political activist Charlie Kirk has been shot and tragically killed at the age of 31 at a Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.”

Eyewitnesses report hearing a single gunshot, followed by Kirk collapsing and blood visible on his neck, according to People.com The crowd panicked, and the event was immediately evacuated. Kirk was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.

Political figures across the nation have spoken out about this tragic event, one surprising response was from the governor of California himself stating, "The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form," Newsom wrote on X. Even though the situation may be nasty, even the other political party knows when it is time to put differences aside because at the end of the day a life is a life — not a political belief. President Donald Trump writes on Truth Social,

The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!

His death has sparked questions about political violence and gun control throughout the country. Upon his death, it leaves many wondering if our political climate has gone to extremism to the point that human life is something expendable — something considered normal to sacrifice out of others’ frustration. If this is allowed, what's next — what can we expect to happen on any campus for that matter? This is far beyond simply left wing vs right wing, and more so a question of what's morally correct. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk; may you live on in the hearts of your loved ones.
