2024 was already looking to be a year to remember for Dragon Ball fans, with new anime content in six years coming in the form of “Dragon Ball Daima” and the long awaited “Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO” both scheduled to release on October 11th. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Bandai Namco has chosen to give Dragon Ball fans a little bit more, as they recently announced a new Dragon Ball game: “DRAGON BALL PROJECT: Multi,” a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) and the first “Dragon Ball” MOBA ever released. While the game is scheduled to release in 2025, Bandai has recently released an open beta for the game that was released in these countries and lasted from August 27th to September 3rd of 2024:
United States
United Kingdom
Japan
Germany
South Korea
Canada
France
Taiwan
“DRAGON BALL PROJECT: Multi” is when combining the gameplay of “League of Legends” with the iconic cast of the “Dragon Ball” franchise. The game features 4v4 matches with characters that can be one of three classes: Offense, Technical and Tank. The beta for this game released with ten characters, those being:
Goku (Offense)
Vegeta (Tank)
Gohan (Offense)
Future Trunks (Offense)
Piccolo (Offense)
Android 18 (Technical)
Krillin (Technical)
Majin Buu (Technical)
Cooler (Tank)
Zamasu (Tank)
Every single character has their own unique moveset, and characters like Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Cooler can even transform at a certain level, becoming even stronger.
The main objective of the game is to fight your way through the lanes, defeating mobs and opponents as you level up and acquire new skills. These skills can be used to defeat opponents as well as the opposing team’s Seven Gods of Destruction, which you need to beat in order to gain access to the opponent’s Dragon Shell. Once the Gods of Destruction have all been defeated, you simply need to destroy the Dragon Shell and claim the Dragon Ball.
As of writing, this game is no longer in open beta, so we will have to wait and see what it has in store. However, the game looks to be promising, and hopefully we will see more news regarding this first for the “Dragon Ball” franchise.
