On Monday, May 5th, the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks went head-to-head in round two of the NBA playoffs. Both teams have a past of not being too fond of each other, so everyone knows this series is going to be one no one’s going to want to miss. Not to mention, both teams have had a great season as well and are both looking for the same end result: hoisting up the trophy and becoming the NBA champions. With that one goal in mind for the remaining teams in the playoffs, it will be a tough run for each team.

Game 1: Let’s just say that if you were rooting for the Celtics, you had a disappointing night. Not only did Boston blow a 20-point lead, they allowed the Knicks to come back late in the 4th quarter, making it a close game. The Celtics were in command for almost the whole game, but it appeared that New York wanted it more. The game was sent to overtime, where the New York Knicks had the upper hand in the extra five minutes of the game. With the help of Josh Hart’s clutch steal from Jaylen Brown, the Knicks were able to pull away with a win of 108-105.

Game 2: Again, Celtics fans were in for a disappointing night after another game. This game was definitely a heartbreaker; the Celtics once again blew a 20-point lead!! The Knicks had the momentum shifted to their side for the whole 4th quarter, and finally the Knicks had their first lead of the entire game. Jayson Tatum was able to give the Celtics a 1-point lead with a powerful dunk with seconds left in a nail-biting game. All the Celtics needed was a stop or a foul to stop the clock; they fouled, which sent Jalen Brunson to the free throw line. With the Knicks back in the lead with 91-90, the Celtics needed any made bucket to win the game, and again New York came out with a win with their sensational defense; Mikal Bridges stole the ball on Jayson Tatum’s final shot, which gave them the win.

Even down 0-2 in a best-of-7 game series, I still have full faith that the Celtics will get their rhythm back and make an outstanding comeback and win. Yeah, they’ve been pretty terrible from 3-point land, but I believe that the reigning champs will get out of that slump and perform like the great team they’ve proven to be!
