Perry Bamonte was the guitarist and keyboardist for the very well known band The Cure. He has been a part of the band since 1990 and he actually started as a guitar tech for the former guitarist Robert Smith in England. On December 24, 2025, Perry Bamonte would sadly pass away in the comfort of his own home in South West, England due to a short illness.

Perry Bamonte has been a center piece of the band with his most recognizable part being the synth in the very famous song “Friday I’m In Love” as well all of the other guitar parts in every album except for “4:13 Dream”. Also, in 2019, Perry Bomonte was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame with The Cure as a whole after being nominated two other times and not making it. However, after that third time they finally made it!

A fun fact is that the main reason why Bamonte got the roadie job was because his brother was a roadie for DM. It was very influential for him even considering the job. Then his sister taught him the piano that led to his success with him playing synth for the band which contributed to the band’s most unique and iconic sounds. Other than his musical talent, Bamonte actually really loved fly fishing as his main interest outside of music. In fact, he was the artistic director in the “Fly Culture Magazine” and he dived deeper into that hobby after he took a break from The Cure in 2005 and then he joined the band Amongst Ruin.

Perry Bamonte was a very talented and bright English man who has contributed so much towards the music scene and his legacy is cemented into most alt-rock music and he will be missed. Rest in peace, Perry Bamonte.
