The Writing Center is having a “Valentine’s Day Poetry Contest” where you can write a poem about something that you love, care, or are grateful for, whether it’s a person, pet, music, or food. If you enter and win the contest, you have the opportunity to win a $25 giftcard and your poem will be published in The Quill

What is The Writing Center?

The Writing Center is a place on campus where students can get help with their written assignments whether it be an essay or lab report and an outlet to use their creativity to write and see writing as a way to express themselves outside of assignments. It is also there to show that writing can be therapeutic because it’s a great way to get people to think and process their thoughts in a different way.

How can you sign up for the contest?

You can go on their Instagram (@mayfairwritingcenter) and look at their post about the event. There is also a chance your teacher has posted it on their Google Classroom stream so you can scan the QR code and sign up. If you don't have access that way, students are free to go to The Writing Center in room 804 and scan the QR code there.

If you are thinking of participating, don't be afraid to do so because it’s a great way to express yourself in a written form. However, it's a good thing to write about something that you are passionate about or something you care about deeply and put your heart into it.

If you have any questions or concerns about what The Creative Writing Center is or about the Valentine’s Day contest, you are free to go to room 804 during 1st, 3rd or 4th period. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, February 6th.
