The Colorado Buffaloes’ superstar, Shedeur Sanders, had a completely unexpected NFL draft experience. He has been a great college player, playing as the Buffalo's star quarterback for four seasons, with his father, Deion Sanders, as his coach. Shedeur was projected to go as one of the top five picks in many mock drafts that have been released prior to the NFL draft. Awaiting to see whether or not his future would consist of him playing in the NFL was a LONG wait, especially for a player as good as Shedeur.

Once round 1 came to a close, it was definitely a surprise to see that Shedeur Sanders wasn’t selected. Then on Friday, when rounds 2-3 took place, it started getting a bit concerning when Sanders still remained undrafted. The fate of Shedeur’s future NFL career started becoming a bit unclear: was he really going to be an undrafted player?

Not only was Shedeur stuck with anticipation to see if he’ll even be an NFL player, he also received a senseless prank call. The prank call was made by the son, Jax Ulbrinch, of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrinch. Jax falsely claimed himself to be the New Orleans Saints general manager and said that he’ll “have to wait a little longer” and they’ll select him with their next pick; it was untrue. After making the call, Jax later posted on an Instagram story apologizing for the incident. Sanders responded to the media by saying, “It didn’t really have an impact on me… My reaction to it…it is what it is… I think, of course, I feel like it was a childish act.”

On Saturday, the last day for the NFL draft, rounds 4-5 were announced, and finally the Colorado quarterback was selected. He was selected in the 5th round, the 144th overall pick in the draft, to the Cleveland Browns. Shedeur Sanders’ long, crazy draft night finally had a happy ending; now he’s moving on to the next step, the NFL.
