Ever since Trump was elected for president quite some time ago, it is safe to say that there’s been a notable decline in democracy. It depends on one's viewpoints on his presidency, with some believing he acts as a dictator and others refusing to buy into that. Though, it can be argued that it’s been a nationwide thing in the US, given the charts in The world has recently become less democratic - Our World in Data, as well as Trump’s previous attacks towards democracy, especially with the ICE raid that are an ongoing thing. Specifically with the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, which has resulted in intense controversy about whether or not America is to be considered a democracy anymore. It is due to the fact that Alex was not posing imminent danger towards the agents and Renee driving away from agents to avoid conflict since she didn’t wish to be involved. Along with people bringing up that Trump is a vengeful man, with the 'punishable by death' comment about Democrats and the amount of ICE propaganda posters that have been appearing on some platforms, one of which being most prominent, that being X. Despite his comment having been cleared up, it still sparked some doubt in others, which is pretty reasonable, considering the things that had fundings cut during the government shutdown, that being the food stamps and air travel. Or just his affiliation with Elon Musk, with numerous people being skeptical of him due to him being on the road to becoming a trillionaire, starting even more controversy. Many ‘eat the rich’ believers also believe that he could help end world hunger alongside other rich people who are around the same level as Elon. Which is also reasonable, given the amount of damage that they’ve both been doing to the environment.
