Our 2022 Back to School Night

Our Back to School Night was Thursday, September 1st and it was the parent’s first chance this year for them to meet their child's teachers and to get to know their classes. In addition to that opportunity, there was also an introduction by our new principal, a performance by the band and shops supporting both clubs and programs. Parents were assigned to go through their child’s schedule where their teachers prepared slide show presentations to inform them of what goes on in the classes their child is taking.

The night started at 5 pm, with the Mayfair Band and Color-guard doing performances throughout the hour. They played their pep toons, and preformed their show, “Metroplex'', and a few solos. The band director, Mr. Phillips addressed the parents and staff with a speech about what the band has recently come up with, which included their first travel competition since 2019, that’s going to be in Las Vegas. After that segment, the Principal, Mr. Diaz addressed the crowd and introduced himself, in addition to introducing the office staff and the counselors.

The fundraisers and stands consisted of the Girls Soccer team selling pizza and soda, Key Club selling pollo bowls, and burritos, the LAFF Club selling iced coffee, coffee and food, and the football team selling hotlinks. Additionally, the Mayfair Vocal group sold ice creams, but the biggest stand was the Mayfair Marching Corps and color-guard, where the parents and volunteers operated it. There were also stands for parts of the community, like the army and additional impactful programs.

Overall, it was a great way to welcome our community to the new school year.
