Mrs. Foote has been working at Mayfair since 1994 and has spent 31 amazing years as a Mathematics teacher for middle school. Since she and others made the decision to retire after the 24-25 school year she has stated that she “didn’t realize how much grief came along with retiring”. Q: What is your favorite memory at Mayfair?

A: “I think my favorite memory is just the camaraderie with all administrators, counselors, teachers and students. That’s my favorite memory.”

Q: What advice would you give to students struggling in math?

A: “Never give up, be a lifelong learner, you’re gonna continue to learn math throughout your life. Whatever career you’re in, whatever university you’re in, whatever family life you have you will always be using math, just be willing to learn and don’t let anybody make you feel stupid.”

Q: What’s one thing you wish you would’ve known before becoming a math teacher?

A: “How many kids do it themselves because they don’t feel they’re good enough at math.”

Q: What’re your plans after you retire?

A: “The first six months I don’t know. I think I'm gonna relax, and take a look at my next thirty years.”

Q: What kept you motivated throughout your years of teaching?

A: “Oh the smiles on the kids' faces when they realized they had their a-ha moments.”

We wish Mrs. Foote a joyful and restful retirement. Thank you for the knowledge, dedication, and care you've given Mayfair over the past 31 years.
