The Sofi Stadium Kickoff game was a great way to start the 2025-2026 school year. Mayfair High School got an invitation to play at the big beautiful stadium in Los Angeles. The game started at 7 p.m. on the dot and the crowds filled the stadium with amazing school spirit. Some ways to describe this football team are: they persevere, they are determined and they have amazing sportsmanship. In the game, the team struggled; however, they continued pushing their limits, even though they knew that they were on the losing streak. The teammates were so encouraging to each other and they kept telling each other “We got this”. There were moments of frustration but they helped each other out by recollecting themselves. Derek Bedell, the coach, was encouraging towards his players he would tell his team, “Keep going, don't sweat, it's just not our game, it's not your fault,” then he would be telling the players things like “That was a good pass, keep going”. There was phenomenal support given to the players, it was amazing because encouragement certainly goes a long way during the tough times!  I'm glad that Coach Bedell was able to successfully encourage his players to the very end. At the end of the game, all of the players went to the turf and shook hands with the players from the other team and congratulated them on the win. It was an amazing experience even though Mayfair High School may have not won. Overall, all of the players got to live this once in a lifetime experience and hold on to this memory dearly.
