Never Ending Violence in Texas

Sunday May 6, 2023 was supposed to be a day to spend time with family, relaxing on the weekends. On this day, a mass-shooting broke out in Dallas Texas. Minutes before the shooting, the suspect, Maurcio Garcia, recorded himself in a mask with a very menacing audio. The suspect posted many rants about women and minorities on social media and also posted a shirtless picture of himself with a white power tattoos. He heavily supported the Nazis, and shared many images and messages about his obsession over that. Not only that, but he also posted his transactions of the guns he bought, and officials have reportedly said he spent at least $3,200 worth of guns. Maurcio had a very terrible background, there was absolutely nothing remarkable about this guy at all.

Many lives were lost including three children from different families. James Cho, a 3-year-old toddler along with his two parents were killed in the shooting. The only surviving member of the family was the couple’s oldest child, William, who was only 6-years old. The Cho family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help the family and provide compensation. There were also two other adults that were killed as well. A security guard, and an engineer. Both were young with a big future ahead of them but were sadly cut short.

The “hero” police officer shot and killed the gunman behind all this agony. If he wasn’t there, even more people could’ve died that day. The “hero” wasn’t publicly identified as of today, but he for sure was honored by many people.

After this horrible shooting incident, many people demeaned a change in gun laws in Texas. Many protested, but the governor of Texas responded with “Guns aren’t the problem”. This is absolutely absurd, and there should be more heavy laws on guns.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims who have lost their lives in this tragic incident.
