Opening night for Beetlejuice: The Musical. The Musical. The Musical. from Monsoon Theatre and Performing Arts premiered on January 23rd and it has been an overall success. I had the great opportunity to watch the opening night of the musical. The production was great, the music, the acting, all of it came together for one great show.

Beetlejuice himself lit up the whole crowd with his hilarious lines and improv with the crowd. We had the opportunity to interview families and friends of the cast members and even just people who came to watch the show. From the information I have gathered, not a single bad review. Many attendees mentioned that the show is well put together, funny, and exciting. There was not a single joke that did not amuse the audience. The performance made you feel like you were a character in the musical with the abrasive acting that pulled you in for a comedic ride. After the last act of the musical, we had the chance to talk to a few of the cast members, asking them how they felt about the opening performance and how they thought they did.

The actor who played Lydia Deetz—Ophelia Barbosa, in the musical said that this first show felt like a rehearsal and not so much a real performance—like a warm-up for the following shows.

Lastly, we had a chat with the actor who played Adam Maitland—Jhé

Harrison. He felt that the show went pretty good but could be better. One main point he added is that with more runs of the show, the more consistent they will be. We also asked for a 1-10 rating and he felt it was a solid 7/10.

Overall, the show is great and if you are a Beetlejuice fan or just want to have a good time, you should definitely check it out. The last shows left are on Friday, January 30 at 7:00PM (Purple Cast) and Saturday, January 31 at 2:00PM (Purple Cast) & 7:00PM (Green Cast). Make sure to get your tickets now and whatever you do, don’t say Beetlejuice three times in a row.
