Mayfair’s Club Rush
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Club Rush returned to middle and high school lunch periods. Club Rush is a yearly event where student groups set up tables to recruit new members. Students had the opportunity to explore a variety of clubs and organizations, with over 20 clubs participating and presenting.
Participating groups included the Computer Science and Cybersecurity clubs, which both focus on real-world coding & programming. These clubs participate in national coding competitions alongside SkillsUSA, and students who win are recognized for their achievement. The photography club, an art-based group, is open to experienced and beginner photographers looking to develop and share their skills. Another creative option is the Art Academy, an arts-focused club open to young artists in both middle and high school. The Gender Sexual Alliance Club (GSA) provides a space for LGBTQ+ students and allies during lunch. History Club focuses on sharing historical events with others interested in the topic. The Spanish Club is another of Mayfair’s culture-based clubs for people interested in Spanish culture or language to gather with others who share that interest or speak the language. Team World Vision is a fundraising club that supports global poverty and clean water in Africa by raising money through marathons. UNICEF is a rights-focused club, advocating for children's rights worldwide, and spreading awareness of the challenges youth face.
Club rush was a wonderful experience for students interested in getting involved around campus. With the wide variety of club opportunities, a majority of students were able to enroll in new communities.
