Mayfair’s Back-to-School Night
On Wednesday, September 2nd, Mayfair held its annual Back-to-School Night, inviting students and parents to explore classrooms and the school campus. At the entrance, the Mayfair Monsoon Marching Corps greeted families by performing our school’s fight songs. Alongside the band, signs guided families towards the STEAM Building. The event began at 5 p.m. in front of the STEAM Building, with a welcome speech from our principal, Dr. Morgan. Dr Morgan addressed various topics, spotlighting Mayfair’s election as a leading school in America, honoring teachers and counselors who hold significant roles on campus, and speaking directly to parents about the school’s core vision: focusing on students’ futures to help them succeed as much as possible. Following the speech, all teachers who attended returned to their classrooms to begin setting up presentations for parents and students. Teacher presentations started at 5:30 p.m., with each session lasting eight minutes, followed by a four-minute passing period to rotate between first to eighth periods.
Back-to-School Night also offered various foods, drinks, and snacks around campus. Numerous groups and clubs – including Journalism, Link Crew, and Wrestling – were out selling these goods. The Mandarin club also performed their Dragon Dance around these vendors. On the right side of the STEAM Building, several groups and organizations set up booths for interested students. These included school programs, colleges, and Mayfair's PTSA. The YMCA, Cal-Aps, Cerritos College, Metro, Aptic, the Community Family Guidance Center, the Metro Life Program, the Oak Center, and Child Net were also present to provide information.
