Bellflower High School Loaded Gun Found

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

On Friday, March 3rd 2023 it was announced that a Bellflower High School student was found for having a loaded gun on campus. An email got sent out by the superintendent, Dr. Drati to the parents of the Bellflower Unified School District explaining what had happened at Bellflower High that day. Right once people found out about the loaded gun suspect people took into action early and quickly responded to the situation. The school administration of Bellflower reacted quickly notifying the authorities as well as questioning and searching the student. The superintendent, Dr. Drati stated “The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community is of utmost importance and we would like to thank the witnesses for their courage and sense of responsibility in bringing the matter to our attention.” This infers that if you ever see a situation with any illegal weapon make sure to inform a trusted adult right away and take responsibility in speaking up about a serious and frightening situation without being embarrassed to snitch or tell on somebody that’s bringing something they’re not supposed to be doing or bringing. At any school you should be able to feel safe and secure, when students bring any weapon to school such as knives, guns or any other object that can be deadly can make you feel unsafe and worried. To fix these problems at the school of Bellflower the principal Mr. Lungren conducted a staff meeting after school to inform the staff on the matter of the situation and to provide with the necessary resources to engage the students upon their return on Monday. The district is also providing counseling services for all students that is in need of emotional support. In the email it also expressed to the parents if their child also knows any student that is in need of extra help to reach out to the administration as well as staff with any assistance.
