Mayfair Middle and High School wants to welcome everyone: students and staff, new and old. As SOONS, it is our duty to make sure everybody feels accepted into the community and that we accept the community. We are proud to have our newest staff member, Alejandro Lopez, working at our school as a student social worker.
Enlisted in June 2024, Mr. Lopez intends to stay with us and has expressed his enthusiasm to be here. For 20 years, he has been working with youth in the LA County of Education (LACOE) previously taking the role of school administrator, counselor, social worker, and even a teacher. Out of every school, he says that Mayfair is the “biggest school he’s worked at.” With an open mind, he hopes to support students, build partnerships and help our community. If you ever need a helping hand around campus, you can find him in room 802 to the far right of the STEAM building or on school grounds.
Of course, it’s important to know who you’re meeting on a personal level. I am keen to let you know that Mr. Lopez is always happy to help, guide, or just talk to anyone and everyone! He describes himself as a social man and “life-long learner” who would “like to welcome people” into our growing community. His interests range from “anything on wheels,” including cars and motorcycles, to the science of mechanisms and engineering. He is an amicable and courteous person and anytime you need to talk, he will be nothing short of open and honest. Whether you have much or little to say, he will be there to listen intently and add any feedback necessary.
Mr. Lopez says to “move forward and make things better.” He will always uphold this value for himself and his community. Still, in the short amount of time he has been with us, I feel he has already made great connections with Mayfair Middle and High School.
