Drew Struzan was one of the greatest artists of all time in Hollywood during the “New Hollywood Era”. Some of his pieces include poster art for the original trilogy for “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones”, “The Back to the Future”, “Harry Potter”, “Blade Runner" and many more. Unfortunately, he passed away on October 13th, 2025 after a two year long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Drew Struzan was a talented artist and his movie posters in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s his posters itself became the standard for Hollywood movie posters. In fact, due to his great artworks, he later on in his career received the following awards: Saturn Award(2002), Inkpot Award(2010), Saul Bass Award (2014) and the Sergio Award for Lifetime Achievement (2014).
Some of his artwork was sold from franchises such as "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter" to charities. Many companies have made promises to make donations of money to the Alzheimer's Association to provide better help for people who are battling Alzheimer's Disease.
Drew Struzan was and still is, in my opinion, the greatest Hollywood illustrator to ever exist. His work and legacy will live on, not only through his art but with his charity work, he could help other people in need by selling something that was so important for him not for money or fame but because it connected with people and communities. I just want to say rest in peace Drew and let your legacy live on.
