Trump Goes Against AI Regulation

This past Sunday, September 13, 2026, President Donald Trump made a post on his Truth social media where he is dismissing the concerns of AI industry insiders. As this issue grows concerning for American citizens, President Donald Trump said that all AI concerns are a hoax. In his post he specifically said that “The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades”.  He also mentions that his administration has stopped doing things that could be dangerous and he continues to claim that America must win against China in its advancements in AI.

As the AI industry evolves and advances, so does the danger it could cause. According to Time magazine, Jacob Coxcon, a British researcher, shared a post on X that said that “We really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans!”. This comes after he resigned from his position at Anthropic. In addition, he claims that both AI leaders, OpenAI and Anthrophic, “ . . . are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives”. This is especially dangerous because  it could pose a danger to human life. This is why it's important to have restrictions and controls over AI contrary to what the president claims.

President Trump’s words and actions show us the fact he only cares about the competition for the advancement of AI between China and the United States. This is shown when he calls the whole situation a hoax instead of looking into the issue at hand and, instead, he describes it as a “simple issue”. This is also shown in how he uses the word “hoax” to be completely dismissive of the situation. In addition, President Trump shows this in his post on Truth social media where he deliberately says all AI needs is a high IQ president and no regulations or rules for AI. This shows him going against AI controls and safety protocols, which could be detrimental to human life. 

To conclude, what President Trump is doing is very important because it could have a really negative impact on future human life. In addition, if he continues with the same mindset of not applying any regulations to AI development, the dangers could become reality sooner than we think. If this was all a hoax as the President claims, then we wouldn't have individuals like Jacob Coxcon warning us of what could happen in the future. This isn’t just a competition between China and the United States but a real threat to human life. It is crucial to put regulations and guidelines in place to make sure AI advancements are safe for everyone.
