The 81st Assembly of the United Nations

This past Tuesday, September 23, 2026, the United Nations 81st assembly took place in New York City. This assembly began on September 22, 2026 and will conclude September 28, 2026. It is estimated that nearly 130 world leaders will be attending the 81st U.N assembly. In addition, in this assembly topics like wars (Middle East and Ukraine), artificial intelligence governance, climate action, and sustainable development goals will all be addressed. The importance of this assembly is to be able to restore trust and make negotiations. 

September 22, 2026 was the first day of the 81st United Nations general assembly, many things took place. For example, President Donald Trump gave a speech in regards to artificial intelligence. He claims that AI should be seen as a positive thing. According to

So it's superintelligence. In other words, welcome to the new world of superintelligence — SI". This reflects President Donald Trump’s view on artificial intelligence and it shows how he’s not considering the dangers it could bring. Moreover, he expresses that the Justice Department will be the one in charge of the new innovations of artificial intelligence. 

September 24, 2026 was the third day of the 81st United Nations assembly; many African leaders were demanding permanent inclusion for the 15 member Security Council. In addition, this 15 Security Council is in charge of global security issues. The African leaders want to be included as permanent members to the Security Council because it will allow more variety of perspectives on global issues and promote more solutions to global concerns. According to https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/african-leaders-press-united-nations-for-permanent-seats-on-security-council, Kenyan President William Ruto told delegates on Wednesday that "Every nation is sovereign and equal under the (U.N.) charter. Yet, on the gravest question of war and peace, five nations possess a permanent power that the other 188 do not. The equality proclaimed in this assembly ends at the doors of the security council." Moreover, there are currently only five permanent members which are the United States, Russia, France, China, and the United Kingdom. This includes issues like the war between Russia and Ukraine and the war of the U.S with Iran. 

In conclusion, the 81st United Nations assembly has many important topics yet to be discussed that could impact the well being of all human life. Still, there are more issues that will be necessary to identify in the following days of this assembly. We can already see the impact this assembly has had, shown in President Donald Trump's speech in regards to artificial intelligence. We can also see this on the demands of  the African leaders who were requesting inclusion for the Security Council. Finally, based on everything we observed we can say  the 81st United Nations Assembly will have a large impact on human life around the globe.
