My Review of Bob Marley: One Love

The Bob Marley: One Love movie released in U.S. theaters on February 14th, 2024. The movie is a biopic, having actors Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley and Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley. The movie was also produced by Bob Marley’s children, Ziggy and Cedella Marley. The movie takes place in the early years of his life up to the last few years of his ultimate demise, and it goes into slight detail about his upbringing about him being biracial, growing up in poverty and his father walking out of him and his mother’s lives, which caused Marley’s mother to raise him as a single mother.

The entire movie was very moving and brought a lot of emotions while watching, and was all around very enjoyable to watch. For example, there were scenes where they’d include songs and have Kingsley Ben-Adir performing them. The only bad thing I have to say about this movie is that I wish they included a bit more of his personal life rather than just his life on tour, but other than that I’d have to give this movie a solid 9.5/10 only because it was really nice to see actual clips from interviews and videos of Marley at the end of the film.

Throughout the movie, they really gave a lot of foreshadowing to his death, which added quite a bit of suspense to the film, but there was also a lot of thrill to it which would have you on the edge of your seat. In the beginning of the film, there was a message from Marley’s son, Ziggy Marley, and he gave a small introduction to the movie which made it seem a bit more personal and sweet.

All in all, this was a really great biopic film to see and I recommend you go and see it while it’s out!
