On Saturday March 14, 2026, Mariners and Showtime participated in a show choir competition hosted by the Los Alamitos Choirs where they competed against other show choirs in their own division.
Mariners were scheduled to perform around 2:30 PM and went against three schools in the intermediate treble division. They started off with “Holding Out For A Hero” with a powerful intro of wanting something that they're trapped into. Throughout their set, they had a powerful finale when performing their final song “Wings” that showed the freedom they won which resembles the message of their theme.
Showtime was scheduled to perform at 3:45 PM against one school in the intermediate mixed division. Showtime’s set started off with a powerful speech spoken by Amaya Hillard with an introduction of love leading the way leading into “One Night Only.” During Daft Punk, there was a dim lighting that resembled the coolness of Showtime’s neon lit up glasses that they wore while dancing.
During the awards, Mariners was announced to win second place out of three schools. They are notable to receive either second or first. Then, for Showtime, they won first place including best music and best show which includes a whole entire sweep. Showtime hasn’t received first place since 2023 which finally broke their streak of second place.
Additionally, each school gets a best performer. Mayfair’s best performers were Eiryl Aquino for Mariners and Mady Penn for Showtime. Both of them are also the presidents of their group. Additionally, there is also a best soloist for each division. The best soloist was handed to Lennox Scott for Showtime. Lennox had a solo for “One Night Only” and “What’s Going On.” which stunned the judges from his unique voice.
Congratulations to Showtime winning first place with best music and show and for Mariners winning second place. They are one of the award-winning groups here at Mayfair that you can audition for!
As of 3/16/26, you can find Mariners and Showtime’s performance at the Los Alamitos Xtravaganza Saturday Afternoon live stream.
