More specifically, colorful and oversized clothing has come back into trend. Favoring the more colorful and attention-grabbing look from the 80s, many people have incorporated these trends into their daily wardrobe. For those who want to be truly the center of attention, sequin-covered clothing is still alive after 40 years when it comes to more dazzling clothing.

Music and makeup are not excluded in the new 80s revival, as the makeup styles used in the modern day still link back to some of the most popular trends in the 1980s. When it comes to makeup, the eccentric and bold makeup styles are still reminiscent of the 80s. Colorful, vibrant, and bold makeup has come back into trend in the form of graphic and dramatic looks, lively colored eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, and more. In hairstyles, some trends also parallel with the 80s through curtain bangs, perms, and longer-length hairstyles for men.

Music is one of the key features of an era, and 80s music seems to have also returned with these other trends! Music is one of the more complicated returning trends because anything from artists being repopularized, songs trending, or movies bringing songs back. Artists like Kate Bush, The Romantics, Euthymics, and others have been repopularized by Gen-Z through many forms of media, whether it’s through Stranger Things featuring “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” by Kate Bush, the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie having “Talking In Your Sleep” by The Romantics as one of its main featured songs, or Trolls Band Together introducing “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).” To a new generation, 80s music trends are easier to spot with Gen-Z. Not only have artists like these and their songs been revived, but even the way of listening to music has come back as vinyl and cassette tapes return to stores in bulk with the new era of music, despite the popularity of music streaming services.

The 80s has had its impact over many years, through fashion, makeup, hairstyles, and more. The modernization of these trends helps Gen-Z be more fluid and diverse with their styles, and it gives a sense of nostalgia to those who experienced the amazing era of the 80s firsthand.
