On Tuesday, September 8th, Christopher Jackson returned to Hamilton after his departure from the Broadway musical 10 years ago. Jackson has returned for a limited time and will be performing from September 8th, 2026 to January 3rd, 2027. Jackson returned a couple months after another original cast member came back, Leslie Odom Jr., who returned to Hamilton on September 9th, 2026, and left on November 26th, 2026. Jackson has been in many different musicals after he first left Hamilton in 2016 such as Hell's Kitchen and Freestyle Love Supreme. Before joining Hamilton in 2015, Jackson was in many theatre productions, including Holler if Ya Hear Me, Bronx Bombers, After Midnight and The Jammer. He has won awards for his performances, such as a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance for In the Heights and winning a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for Hamilton. He was also featured in a Disney movie, voicing Chief Tui in Moana.

After Jackson’s first performance back at Hamilton on Broadway, he was welcomed back with a standing ovation. After he finished singing “One Last Time” the whole theater stood up and applauded him. His voice was loud, strong and passionate, everyone could tell he was so happy to be back. At the end of the musical, fans waited outside of the stage door at the Richard Rogers Theatre, eager for him to sign their playbills. Jackson was one of the last actors to come out and sign things and left after a couple minutes. Many other actors that performed that night also came out to sign fan playbills. Jackson’s return to Hamilton is making many fans wonder if any other original cast members of the musical would be willing to come back.
