The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

Updated: Apr 22

In this new adventure with SpongeBob SquarePants we discover his' pet snail Gary gets grabbed by Poseidon and taken to the Lost City of Atlantic City, the self centered ruler King Poseidon has recently used all the snail slime he had in position from his most recent ocean snail, which is important to keep him restored. Since ocean snails are practically wiped out, Poseidon demands another snail. Plantation then gets the idea of capturing SpongeBob's pet snail Gary so SpongeBob will go to discover him and accordingly not meddle with his arrangements. The next morning, SpongeBob takes Patrick to Atlantic Cityhe to head out on a salvage mission to save gary from the obnoxious arrangement of Poseidon before it is past the point of no return.

I generally think that this movie has a very diverse audience ranging from infants to elderly seniors due to its welcoming and relatable personalities in each character. If you watched Spongebob in the past, it's like the episode where he lost his pet snail just ten times more action and better CGI. The movie, in my opinion was generally just a moneymaker and a sequel to the episode but gave it no credit. The jokes were the same, just worded differently, and the storyline was not set up to be a movie but an extended episode with less creativity but more repetition. Some ideas were well thought out, but others replicated the original SpongeBob movie released in 2004. An idea brought back from the original movie was adding a celebrity guest come onto the set. This year, Keanu reeves who had much fame due to a movie released with him being the main character "John Wick ". This movie does not utilize him and almost did nothing but show his face and give some simple lines. Although the movie has decent animation, I think it will ruin the old Spongebob legacy and the memories made viewing the original tv show.
