The Plaid Sheep is a restaurant located in the Long Beach Hangar at the Long Beach Exchange shopping center. The majority of their menu consists of grilled cheese, but they offer other options such as pasta, fries, tomato soup, and onion rings. In total they have 10 different types of grilled cheese sandwiches. After looking at their menu for a good 10 minutes I decided which grilled cheese I would be trying. The number four on their menu is a grilled cheese sandwich with steak, shaved ribeye, mushroom, bell pepper, caramelized onions, and fontina cheese. Unfortunately they had no mushrooms, so they offered me extra veggies, which I gladly accepted. Along with my grilled cheese I purchased hand-cut fries (which they double fry to make extra crispy) and a side of handmade ranch. The first bite into the sandwich felt like laying on your bed after a long day. Yes, really, it was that good. The one word I would use to describe the sandwich is stupendous. I immediately fell in love with the taste, and I decided at that moment when I will be going back for more. As I bit into the sandwich I could feel an explosion of flavors occurring in my mouth. Every bite was more savory each and every time. As for the fries, they weren’t that good, but the dipping sauce was. Prices range between $8.50 and $9.50 before tax for any of the grilled cheese sandwiches. You may think this is expensive for a sandwich but they’re actually decently big. The wait time at the Plaid Sheep wasn’t long at all, and the employees were very friendly and attentive. I personally rate the restaurant a five out of five. It’s definitely worth the drive. Plaid Sheep is located at 4150 McGowen St. in Long Beach, and they are open Sunday-Tuesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
