Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off'' was released in 1986 (already making my opinion biased as the 80’s are the best). Ferris Bueller is a master con artist; able to skip school and cover his tracks without getting caught, he decides he needs a day off. Faking illness, he gets himself, his best friend, and his girlfriend all out of school. Seizing the opportunity they take an adventure around Chicago. My favorite part of the movie is the fact that it has all kinds of running jokes that the movie keeps going throughout its entirety, from Bueller constantly breaking the fourth wall (actually talking to the viewer) to everyone in the town loving Bueller despite his constant mischief. Aside from all the jokes are the relatable quotes. The most popular quote being from Ferris himself, when he said “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t slow down once in a while, you could miss it.” My personal favorite is “It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.”

Personally, the fact that the movie is just silly and funny is why I liked it so much. It isn’t heavy and it doesn’t have a deep plot. It's just fun. When I was watching the movie my Dad said “why are you watching this, it seems dumb,” and I said that was the point. The movie isn’t meant to be serious. When I watched “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” it was 1 hour and 43 minutes of joy. It didn’t play with my emotions, and I like that.

I gave Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 4.9/5 stars because I honestly would watch it again. I just enjoyed the movie and everything about it, except the few minutes that grossly resembled a musical, which are not my favorite. I enjoyed watching the movie, and even after I finished watching it all I could think was, Ferris Bueller, you’re my hero.
